During the rapeseed harvest, the crop yield exceeded last year's levels

According to OleoScope's latest data, the rapeseed harvest in Russia, including new regions, reached 1.14 million hectares as of September 12, representing 38% of the planned area.

Following the threshing, 2.622 million tons of oilseed were harvested, exceeding last year's levels by 23 centners per hectare, compared to 22.3 centners per hectare in 2024.

In the Central Federal District, the harvested area amounted to 461,000 hectares, or 71% of the planned area. More than 1.2 million tons of seed were threshed, exceeding last year's levels by 1.5 centners per hectare, reaching 26.9 centners per hectare.

In the Northwestern Federal District, 75% of the area (66,000 hectares) has been threshed, with an even higher yield of 30.9 c/ha, yielding 203,000 tons of oilseed.

In the south of Russia, 92% of the rapeseed area (94,000 hectares) has been harvested, with yields remaining slightly below last year's level of 23 c/ha versus 24.5 c/ha, for a total harvest of 217,000 tons.

In the North Caucasus Federal District, 99,000 hectares have been harvested, representing 82% of the planned harvest, with yields of 17 c/ha, 2.4 c/ha lower than last year's. The gross harvest totaled 167,000 tons.

In the Volga region, rapeseed yields exceeded last year's figures by a significant 3.9 centners per hectare, reaching 22.3 centners per hectare. The crop was harvested from 184,000 hectares, representing 51% of the planned figure. 410,000 tons of oilseed were harvested.

In Siberia, harvest figures for 11% of the area were also significantly better than last year, reaching 286,000 tons with a yield of 18.4 centners per hectare.

In the Urals, harvesting has only just begun; after 2% of the area had been threshed, the yield was 24 centners per hectare, a third higher than the 2024 figure and above the Russian average.

In the new regions, the rapeseed harvest is almost complete, with 98% of the area (80,000 hectares) threshed. 90,000 tons of seed have been collected, with a yield of 11.3 centners per hectare, 1 centner per hectare higher than last year.

It was previously reported that the rapeseed harvest in Russia would reach approximately 5.4 million tons in 2025, a record. This forecast was announced by Vladimir Petrychenko, CEO of the Prozerno analytical center. He clarified that the oilseed harvest in Novorossiya and Donbas is projected to reach 87,000 tons.

Review of the Rapeseed Market from September 11th to 18th Last Week

Key Insights of This Week: The rapeseed market saw mixed performance this week: rapeseed oil prices rose, while rapeseed meal prices fell. China's continued anti-dumping deposit policy on Canadian rapeseed imports has essentially stagnated imports of Canadian rapeseed. Australian rapeseed, with the earliest shipment date around November and arrival not expected until December, is expected to remain tight in the fourth quarter. The approaching peak oil consumption season is driving rapeseed oil prices upward. As aquaculture enters its off-season, cooler temperatures slow fish growth, significantly reducing feed demand. This weakens the rigid demand for rapeseed meal, leading to a decline in rapeseed meal prices.
