The Ministry of Agriculture expects Russia to "touch" the record for oilseed harvests in 2025

Russia may reap a record harvest of oilseed crops this year, the Ministry of Agriculture predicts.
"We think we'll touch the record for oilseed crops, maybe even exceed it," Deputy Agriculture Minister Andrei Razin said at a meeting of the task force during the "Golden Autumn 2025" agricultural exhibition in Moscow on Thursday.
He added that "we expect significant increases" for crops such as rapeseed and soybeans. "We consider sunflower production levels sufficient," he added.
According to his presentation, Russia's sunflower harvest this year is projected to be slightly lower than last year's – 17.5 million tons, compared to 18.3 million tons last year. Meanwhile, the soybean harvest could increase to 7.8 million tons from 7.1 million tons, and rapeseed to 5.4 million tons from 4.7 million tons.
"For corn, we generally expect last year's level. We'll see how the harvest goes. It's clear that the situation in the south is significantly more difficult. In the center, it's much better than last year," Razin said. "But there are still many areas to harvest, so we'll finally summarize the results after the harvest is complete."
According to the presentation, the corn harvest in Russia this year could reach 14 million tons (14.1 million tons in 2024).
Furthermore, the Ministry of Agriculture estimates that the legume harvest could reach 7.1 million tons, up from 5.5 million tons in 2024, and barley harvest could reach 18.5 million tons, up from 17.3 million tons.
"If we talk about potatoes, sugar beets, vegetables, and berries, the situation is generally good so far. We expect production volumes to increase year-on-year in all of these areas. It's clear that the harvest isn't complete yet," the deputy minister emphasized.
According to his presentation, the sugar beet harvest is projected to reach 48.1 million tons, compared to 45.1 million tons in 2024. In the organized sector, the potato harvest could reach 7.6 million tons, compared to 7.3 million tons, fruit and berry harvests could reach 2.1 million tons, compared to 1.9 million tons, and vegetable harvests could reach 7.6 million tons (the same as last year).

According to the Russian Agricultural Research Center (RUSEED) Analytical Center, Russia has already planted approximately 70% of its winter crop plan for the 2026 harvest. The total area is projected at 19.8 million hectares.
