China's rapeseed imports hit record high in October

Nov. 24: China imported 843,046 tons of rapeseed in October, up from 806,870 tons in September and from 34,439 metric tons in October last year, a record high, customs data showed.
China imported 835,278 tons of rapeseed from Canada, 5,010 tons from Russia and 2,758 tons from Mongolia in October.
In the first 10 months of this year, China's rapeseed imports stood at 5,074,413 tons, 18.81% higher than the 4,270,886 tons imported in the same period last year. Among them, 4,843,492 tons were imported from Canada, accounting for 95.4%; 184,555 tons were imported from Russia, accounting for 3.6%; and 46,366 tons were imported from Mongolia.
Rapeseed imports for the last two months of the year are estimated at a monthly average of 600,000 tons, and imports for the fourth quarter are estimated at 2 million tons. Imports in the second half of the year are estimated at 3.8 million tons. imports for the whole of 2024 are estimated at 6 million tons.
