According to the news service of Russian Railways (RZD), operational data shows that from January to November 2024, Russian Railways transported 301 million tons of coal, a decrease of 6.2% compared to the same period in 2023.
During the same period, 10.9 million tons of coke were transported, an increase of 2.9% year-on-year; oil and petroleum products amounted to 189.5 million tons, a decrease of 1.1% year-on-year; iron ore and manganese ore totaled 99.7 million tons, a decrease of 2% year-on-year.
In the first eleven months, the total cargo loading on the railway network of Russian Railways was 1.082 billion tons, a decrease of 4.4% compared to the same period last year. In November, the railway cargo loading was 95.6 million tons, down 5.8% from the same period last year.
From January to November, the total freight turnover of Russian Railways was 23.014 trillion ton-kilometers, a decrease of 5.2% compared to the same period last year; considering empty car mileage, the freight turnover was 28.395 trillion ton-kilometers, down 5.8% year-on-year.
In November, the freight turnover of Russian Railways was 2.14 trillion ton-kilometers, a decrease of 1.4% compared to the same period last year; considering empty car mileage for the same period, the freight turnover was 2.624 trillion ton-kilometers, down 2.7% year-on-year.
