According to foreign media reports on December 15, data released on Friday showed that Russia's maritime grain exports in November reached 4.8 million tons, an increase of 39.5% year-on-year.
As the world's largest wheat exporter, Russia has been exporting grain at nearly record speeds in recent months, despite global price declines and measures taken by the Russian government to limit exports.
The potential for Russian grain exports in the 2024/25 fiscal year is estimated to be around 60 million tons. Data shows that maritime exports for this fiscal year reached 27.6 million tons, an increase of 7.08% year-on-year. Maritime exports mainly come from Black Sea ports, accounting for about 90% of Russia's total grain exports in the previous year. Analysts estimate that last year Russia exported about 62 million tons of grain through its maritime terminals.
Data shows that in November, Russia's grain exports through Baltic Sea ports increased by 38.6% year-on-year, confirming their increasingly important role in Russia's exports to new markets such as West Africa and Latin America.
Data indicates that grain exports from Black Sea ports to traditional market customers in the Middle East increased by 51% year-on-year, while exports to Iran from the Caspian Sea decreased by 38%.
