According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs,In September 2024, China imported 37.225 million tons of thermal coal (non-coking coal), up 18.87 percent year-on-year and 5.92 percent month-on-month, the highest monthly import in history.

In September, thermal coal imports were $2.831 billion billion, up 15.68 percent year-on-year and 2.64 percent month-on-month.
From this calculation,The average import price of thermal coal in September was 76.06 US dollars/ton, down 2.69 per cent year-on-year and 3.1 per cent month-on-month.
From January to September 2024, China imported a total of 299.918 million tons of thermal coal, an increase of 25.3917 million tons, or 9.25 percent, over the same period last year, and a cumulative amount of $24.44 billion billion, down 10.14 percent from the same period last year.
