In the Lipetsk region, farmers have started sowing oilseeds, reports Ministry of Agriculture of the region. In total, more than 1 million hectares have been allocated for spring sowing in 2025. Spring rapeseed and sunflower are located on 3 thousand hectares out of 427 thousand allocated for oilseeds this year. Last year, the area under oilseeds was 418 thousand hectares.

As of April 7, spring crops in the Lipetsk region were sown on 57.2 thousand hectares. The largest areas will be sown with grain and leguminous crops. To date, 52 thousand hectares have been sown with spring wheat, barley, peas and oats. Annual grasses have been sown on 2.2 thousand hectares.

"This spring, our farmers will have to sow more than 1 million hectares. The largest wedge is traditionally reserved for grain and leguminous crops. The area under sugar beet and oilseeds will increase by 2%,” said Ekaterina Markova, Minister of Agriculture of the Lipetsk Region.

The total sown area in 2025 in the Lipetsk region will amount to 1 million 406 thousand hectares.

In the Lipetsk region, since 2021, the volume of exports of agricultural products has increased by 1.9 times in physical terms, and by 1.47 times in value. According to the results of last year, vegetable oils and cakes were sent abroad 2.2 times more than in 2021, and in value terms, the increase was 1.5 times. The region relies on oilseeds and will continue to develop their processing, Markova said earlier. The processing capacity of oilseeds in the region is also increasing.
