In January-July 2024, coal transshipment at Russian seaports decreased by 11.4% year-on-year.


According to information released by the press center of the Russian Commercial Seaport Association (The Association of Russian Sea Commercial Ports-ASOP) on August 14, from January to July 2024, the cumulative cargo throughput of Russian seaports was 0.5218 billion tons, a decrease of 3.1 percent from the same period last year. Among them, export goods were 0.4116 billion tons, down 3.1 percent year-on-year, import goods were 24.2 million tons, up 6.1 percent year-on-year, transit goods were 40.1 million tons, up 3.3 percent, and domestic coastal goods were 46 million tons, down 12.0 percent.

In the first seven months, the transshipment volume of solid dry bulk cargo at all Russian ports was 0.2578 billion tons, down 2.9 per cent from the same period last year. The volume of liquid bulk cargoes was 0.264 billion tons, down 3.4 per cent from the same period last year, of which: 0.16 billion tons of crude oil (-0.9 percent), 77.5 million tons of petroleum products (-9.8 percent), 20.6 million tons of liquefied gas (+2.6 percent) and 3.7 million tons of liquid food cargoes (+7.4 percent).

The Baltic BasinThe cargo turnover of the seaport was 0.162 billion tons, up 1.3 percent year on year. Among them, the dry cargo transshipment volume was 73.7 million tons (+9.3%) and the liquid cargo transshipment volume was 88.3 million tons (-4.6%). Among the ports in the Baltic Sea, the cargo turnover is 79.7 million tons (-1.8 percent) at Ustyluga, 37.1 million tons (-3.9 percent) at Primorsk, 31.6 million tons (+19.6 percent) at St. Petersburg and 6.8 million tons (-12.0 percent) at Vysotsk. 

The Azov-Black Sea BasinThe cargo turnover of the seaport was 0.1628 billion tons (down 7.4 percent year-on-year), of which 75.6 million tons (-9.6 percent) were transshipped dry goods and 87.2 million tons (-5.4 percent) were transshipped liquid goods. The transshipment volume of goods at Novorossiysk port was 99.4 million tons (+3.3% year on year), Taman port was 15.8 million tons (-37.5%), Tuapshea port was 12.4 million tons (-16.9%), Caucasus port was 12.7 million tons (-1.9%), and Rostov-on-Don port was 8.9 million tons (-6.9%).

The Caspian Caspian BasinThe port cargo transshipment volume was 5 million tons, up 15.8 percent year on year. Among them, the volume of dry cargo transfer was 3.5 million tons (+34.3%) and the volume of liquid cargo transfer was 1.5 million tons (-11.3%). Among the major ports, the port of Astrakhan had a cargo turnover of 2.4 million tons (+13.1 percent) and the port of Makhachkala had a cargo turnover of 1.9 million tons (-4.4 percent).

The Far East Basin The total volume of cargo transshipment at all seaports was 0.137 billion tons, down 2.7 per cent year on year. Of this, 89.7 million tons (-4.5 percent) of dry goods and 47.3 million tons (+0.9 percent) of liquid goods were transferred. Among them, the cargo throughput of Orient Port was 51.3 million tons (flat year-on-year), Vanino Port was 16.6 million tons (-24.1%), Vladivostok Port, or Vladivostok Port, was 21.8 million tons (+10.8%), Nakhodka Port was 16.7 million tons (+4.9%), and Prigo Rodnoye Port was 7.2 million tons (-6.7%).
