The list of railroad infrastructure under accelerated construction includes a new railroad, which is necessary for the transportation of coal from the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the South Yakutia region of the Sakha Republic to the port of the Khabarovsk Krai, according to the information reported by the press service of the Russian government. The corresponding document signed amends the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of September 7, 2020 No. 2278-r.
This new line, which will continue to be built by private investors (and possibly the Elgar Group), will connect the Tunguska Coal Basin and the Elgar Coal Complex with the marine terminal in the Manosky Point area of the Khabarovsk Territory.
The construction project is included in the list of objects subject to a special legal regime, which allows accelerating the project within a period of 9 to 21 months.
Notably, the construction of the new railroad will have the potential to significantly reduce congestion on the Bea Railway (BAM) and the Trans-Siberian Railway (Trans-Siberian).
Construction of a port near Cape Manorsky in the Khabarovsk Krai is underway, IAA PortNews reports. “The design capacity of the four coal terminals at Port Elgar is 30 million tons per year, which will be increased to 50 million tons per year.
The Pacific Railway (TZD) connects the Elga coal mine in South Yakutia with the Port Elga coal terminal in the Khabarovsk Krai, including branch lines and stations, with a total length of 626 kilometers.
In order to launch investment projects for the construction of Port Elga and Pacific Railway (TZD), the Russian government has expanded the boundaries of the Khabarovsk Priority Development Zone (ASEZ)
